We literally are emanations of the higher energetic realms of Spirit which comes to us via our breath.
Breath Consciousness and proper breathing is the key to healing all ills. It is not an intellectual excercise because the intellect cannot comprehend and wants to maintain dominance. Einstein said "you cannot solve the problems with the thinking you used when they were created." Thinking, based upon shallow breathing, has created all of the ills we see in the world and with people. Proper breathing, physically and using our conscious thinking mind to appreciate our first gift from God, will be what saves us. And it is in process because God has not forgotten us. My take is to Breathe Deeply, Consciously and Appreciatingly and enter into the Reverence for Life mode of living.
